COMMUNITY EVENTS
The University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Save Sight Institute will be hosting their annual Community Info Day as an in-person event on Saturday 16th November 2024 from 9:30am to 4pm. This is a free community event – registration is required. Here are snippets from past events.

‘20/20/20’ CURE BLINDNESS AUSTRALIA WALK
Our President, Bruce Richards completed a 20km walk on 30 June 2024. He started at Beacon Hill to Warriewood along the coast road and back to Beacon Hill. Now Beacon Hill is not named because it is in a valley in fact the views go all the way to the city and airport, so it does have a bit of elevation. So, with a few hills, twists and turns, some rain in the last hour and a strong southerly towards the finish, Bruce got through in the very good time of 3 hours 32 minutes and 42 seconds. And this was the full 20 kilometres plus a bit! What a great effort to be able to raise funds for research. All up nearly $3,500 was raised from sponsors and we are very grateful for the support for Cure Blindness Australia.
CITY TO SURF 2024
Our Treasurer Robyn Zanker was the driving force behind this fund raiser. 2 VIP’s, I blind person and 4 sighted guides joined 90,000 runners and walkers for the 2024 City to Surf. It was a stunning winters day, they didn’t exactly break any records but the fun, teamwork and effort on the day raised over $2000 for research and Cure Blindness Australia is very thankful for their efforts.

THE FIVE LANDS WALK
Another of our members inspired by the 20/20/20 walk participated in the Five Lands Walk at the end of June and raised money for CBA Inc. too. The walk starts at MacMasters Beach Surf Club and meanders along the coast and over the headlands through Copacabana, Avoca and North Avoca to Terrigal. The 5 Lands Walk is a physical, spiritual and cultural journey connecting people to people and people to place; a place where no one is excluded. In doing so we take a step towards creating a more harmonious and inclusive society on the Central Coast and beyond. Thank you for this effort to help raise funds for Cure Blindness Australia.
DINING IN THE DARK 2024
Dining in the Dark Central Coast was held on Saturday 6th April 2024.
The board of Cure Blindness Australia would like to give a massive thank you to everyone that attended, supported, donated & volunteered for the Dining in the Dark on the Central Coast Fundraiser. With all of your generosity the final tally is looking to be just over $8,000. Thank you to the following local businesses for your time & donations towards this event, Silent Auction, Raffles, Owl Lucky Dip & Lucky Door Prizes.
